PR, 25th Jun 2024: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has mandated participation in domestic cricket as a prerequisite for players aspiring to join the national team, aiming to bolster the quality of cricket across the country. This decision follows a crucial meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy, prompted by Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. The PCB emphasized the need to strengthen domestic cricket, outlining plans to overhaul tournaments from grassroots to national levels. Naqvi underscored the importance of performance and fitness in player selection, advocating for the appointment of experienced coaches and the implementation of rigorous training programs. The initiative aims to elevate Pakistan’s cricket standards and prepare a robust team for future international competitions.
