PR, 22nd May 2023: New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has expressed interest in hosting the Pakistan cricket team for a five-match limited-overs series in 2024.
According to media reports, the proposed series will include three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals. Pakistan is now slated to play three test matches against Australia in Australia following the World Cup in India.
Following the conclusion of that tour, the Green Shirts are anticipated to proceed directly to New Zealand. Meanwhile, the Kiwis will finish their tour of South Africa, allowing them to face Pakistan in the second week of January.
According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will consult with all key parties before making a final judgement on the idea.
After touring Pakistan in December/January 2022/23, New Zealand recently returned for five T20Is and a five-ODI series in the second phase.
The Blackcaps were able to level the T20 series before Pakistan stormed away with the ODI series 4-1.
Following a deterioration in ties between the two boards as a result of the Kiwis’ unexpected decision to cancel their trip of Pakistan in 2021, the two have managed to mend fences. Another example of this restoration is New Zealand’s invitation to Pakistan for a series in 2024.
